The Chicago Tribune reports a United Airlines stewardess is being charged with misdemeanor battery after being accused of making inappropriate comments to a 16-year-old boy and rubbing his arm. 57-year-old Jaime Daria Samia is out on bond after being arrested Tuesday. Police say the boy's father informed them Samia had touched his son and made inappropriate remarks while on a flight from Los Angeles to Chicago. Samia is expected to appear in court on August 11th.
This is a straightforward story that again seems to be written in the inverted pyramid form (I'm finding a lot of those with crime stories). The lead is pretty good, though I was surprised to see it written in present tense. I might get rid of "police said today" from the end of the lead. It's made clear in the next paragraph that a police officer is relaying the information.
This story also shows how journalists try to get both sides of the story before going to print. They state in the story they could not get a United representative to speak with them as of this morning.
