Sony to Reinvent the Walkman

The Walkman began 30 years ago claiming the first on-the-go music player. Yet Sony has found itself behind the competition, Apple. Sony admits it has not been able to keep up with the success Apple has with the iPod. They do plan on continuing the Walkman name but Sony's struggle to reinvent is going to be a challenge.

Sony Chief Executive Howard Stringer has announced that Sony has a new team of executives who plan to bring Sony's profiting electronics back to the top. Yet theirs an uncertainty, "All we can do is keep going at it, selling our Walkman, one at a time," said Sony spokeswoman Yuki Kobayashi. "Thirty years is a milestone for Sony. But we hope the Walkman won't be seen as just a piece of history."

This was a good article, a little hard to follow but the main point was clear. Sony may not be able to keep up with Apple or get back on top with the Walkman but they can try.
