Hip Hop and R&B arose steadily through the barriers in the early 90's. If it werent for Vibe Magazine, this style of music would not be seen at the top of the charts. Vibe magazine, showcase for hip-hop and R&B, dies at 16 from economic complications. Vibe was the first magazine to feature black entertainers on the cover and shared in its pages a rich urban youth culture. Rap stars received recognition to become A-list stars and grew into the mainstream status that we see today.
The lead was a little too wordy and it took me a while to understand it. I thought it should have been a bit simpler so that it would be more easily understood. In all this was a very cohesive and interesting article. I had no idea that this culture grew through a magazine.
